Personal Narrative: My High School Football Career

Life is a rollercoaster, a journey with many ups and downs. Sometimes if feels as if you are on top of the world, other times it feels as if you are the lowest you can possibly be. However, life is about getting through the rough times. A personal story of me fighting through adversity was during my high school football career. Throughout most of my career, I struggled to have success on both a personal and team level. When looking at my career, it was composed into three segments, my freshman year, my sophomore and junior, and finally my senior year. I started my highschool career during my freshman year where I played on the freshman team. Our school was just moved into a new conference and we were now one of the smallest in terms of number of students. My team and I came into the season with high ambitions, however fell short. We did not win a single game my freshman year and most of our losses were by many points. Our continuous stream of losses caused much tension and problems within the team. All of the struggles I had been through and countless hours I spent training had all come down to this season. My final season started with me being voted one of three team captains. I was also named a two way starter at running back and linebacker. The season resulted with a record two wins and seven losses, however I saw much personal success. I earned the honors of first team all-conference which is awarded to the top running backs in the conference. I also earned a couple of all-area awards for Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. My greatest accomplishment was being voted most valuable player by my coaches and teammates. It was so satisfying to see that all of my hard work had payed of in the
