I moved from Lawrence to Methuen in Massachusetts. It was towards the end of 2nd grade. I was about 7 or 8 years old. My parents bought their first house in Methuen. We lived in a 3 family house before.
Razor-sharp leaves and blackberry thorns scraped my exposed legs as I hiked up the short trail leading to the central field of Gleason Cemetery. I spent a moment, absorbing my surroundings and came to a sudden realization: I’m going to be buried here before I finish this project. About ten concrete stones peaked their heads above an intricate tangle of emerald vines running up their bases. Thick blackberry bushes surrounded my father and I as we attempted to explore. “We’ll take this one grave at a time,” my dad assured me.
Hi Journey Group! If you know me at all, you absolutely know that I crave new experiences and love to share them. This year, I have begun new adventures… from beginning a new job, to becoming the first African-American female Publisher in Charlotte, to fulfilling a life-long dream of writing and publishing a book. We all have connected at different points in my life, and by far, this is the most exciting time for me that I’ve had in a very long time.
In conclusion, I am grateful to have gotten the opportunity to work with my
This year is important for me; now, I am a senior In Mercy College. I remember being a freshman and not understanding the idea of what life was outside high school. The transition was scary because I had to start over again; however, the experience was worthwhile. I am grateful for Mercy College for providing me with the scholarships that I needed to further my education. I hope to own my practice as a psychologist and I am here to thank my mother for supporting my decision.
The paths that surrounded the immense forests of campsites was getting boring. We had not a clue in the world where we were bike riding too. The unfamiliar rocky roads were leading us to places we've never seen before. We lost the smoky smell of campfires to a crisp scent of Douglas fir trees. I followed my friends as the they came to a stop.
I have had tough hope once, I had to move to a different state and start to get used to the new place. Moving was hard and took a long time to move everything to our new house. My new house was hard to get used to because it was different and I wasn 't used to it which made it hard to sleep and I had to leave my friends behind and I would have to find new friends. Making new friends was hard because I would be alone until I found new friends and I would have no one to talk to so I would be very quiet. Usually I would always be talking to a friend and I am only social with friends.
Throughout my life I have come from and created a few identities for myself. Perhaps, the most dominant identities that have been apart of my life are being an athlete and being a family orientated man. In this paper I will write about how my identities have shaped my life. First off I believe my biggest identity is being an athlete.

In my brief life, I have overcome a lot of adversity. My mom fled Mexico with her three young children to escape domestic violence. When we came to this country we had only a few personal belongings and the promise of a better future. We came to this country and lived in a small trailer with no toilet other than a bucket, and no shower except for the one that was lent to us from the kindness of a stranger, our new neighbor. As a single parent, my mother had to work day and night to support us.
What a year this has been! Here I stand at the completion of my master’s degree program and I feel like I have accomplished so much. This year has been challenging to say the least. The demands of balancing teaching in the classroom each day and working on course work each night seemed impossible, but I did it. I reached my goal and now there are so many opportunities ahead for me.
At this time of year, I begin to look back at my life after 12 hard years of schooling. Throughout the course of my life, there have been many ups and downs, but these up and downs is what made me who I am today. These influences have shaped my values, attitudes and beliefs towards life. There have been many important people and events that has impacted my life. One of which is family and the media.
Starting over Starting over might be easy when you are young, but if you are middle age and already have a stable and calm life, it is very hard to start over. My family and I moved from Egypt to The US three years ago, so we had to start from scratch. We found systems in the US are different from my country. After we found a good residence, our concern was finding employment. I was a science teacher in my country, so I tried to find a job in the educational field, but there were a lot of requirements to get a job as a teacher.
Thank you for the the four years that I spent with you. I will always treasure this. Thank you for teaching me more than what my course can offer. Thank you for making me appreciate a lot of things and for helping me realize the importance of serving other people. Learning does not end in the classrooms; thank you for making me value that.
I wouldn’t be the person I am today without these experiences. I’m also very happy to be able to graduate with the class of 2018. Despite all the troublesome and reckless our class is, I’m happy to be a part of it. I may
