When I finished I was a fresh butter barred ensign and had my pick of some great assignments. I took the most no brainer assignment of them all. I was going to Pearl Harbor. Now living in paradise was amazing for the four years that I was there. As a sailor it is very humbling to se stationed there because of the obvious history of the base. I was now the junior sonar analyst at the headquarters of the Pacific Fleet. I got to see all of the sonar data from all of the Pacific Fleet ships. The submarine data was always the most interesting to look at. It is amazing how many close calls we had with both the Soviets and the Chinese in those waters.
