Personal Narrative: My Life After Moving

For nine years I lived in a small town until my mom and I moved to New York City. I had a year to get used to the idea, and had really gotten excited about it, but when we finally made the transition, it wasn't what I expected. Before moving, my view of everything was as small as my town. I thought that people in NYC were happy, and living stable lives. Moving to such a big and diverse city I saw that not everyone lived comfortably, that people would scream at others for not walking fast enough, and that personal space isn’t a given. At first I hated living here, I wanted to move back right away. Everyone here was grouchy, with a scowl on their face. After living here for awhile I gained friends who are so nice and encouraging.
