The mirabal sisters protested against trujillo and then they got beat to death by Trujillo men. They protested against trujillo. The mirabal sisters were killed on international day against violence against women. Their death was a conspiracy theory. Trujillo was assassinated six months later.
For many years of my life all I did was play soccer. I kicked around a soccer ball in my house, rushed out to the field to play during recess, and then went to practice after school. I was constantly playing and making new friends outside of the classroom. Some of the friends I’ve made playing youth soccer have become my best friends now.
Doing flips and having people hold you up in the air, cheerleading is a very debated subject on whether it is a sport or not. Cheerleading can be for fun or to be competitive, but a large quantity of people debate on cheerleading is a sport or just something you do to have fun. Cheerleading for things like basketball games is not a sport, however competitive cheerleading is. Some people would disagree with that claim and would say that both are or aren't a sport.
One day five years ago my father asked me if I wanted to be the water boy for the Milton Hershey School football team. I said, “Yes”. So for three years I was the water boy. I once got cleated in the face. I had to sit down for a little, but then I sprang up as fast as a rabbit.
One sunny afternoon on June 6, 2012 we gathered at the neighborhood baseball field in Wizzy, TX. The neighborhood kids came and family members it was quite a lot of kids that gathered to play today. We started off picking leaders and teams dividing us up in even amounts and flipping a coin to see who hits first. We started the ball game and both teams were doing amazing with fielding and hitting. Then boom the drama started and nobody had a clue why Enrique and Birdie were fighting.
Football at the lot It was very sunny out the gang was playing football and darry was the person that protects the quarterback johnny was the punter he was a decent good punter but he needs improvement we could not be on the field he get beat up enuff so for know he is the alright punter. Two bit and dally where runners soda got bored so he just started to run around steve was a defender sumtime with soda when he was bored so when soda ran off dally would step in to play defense. A hot summer day in August, no clouds, and no breeze. Two teams are competing on the blazing turf, and I’m on one of them. My quarterback is yelling. “Sixty” I breathe, “Sixty” I look at the enemy in front of me, “Set!” I hear a clap, step back, and throw my hands at the oncoming defender.
Soccer has been an activity that has grown up with me in a sense. Soccer was my best friend. I played recreational soccer until I was in third grade. I’ve always loved the sport and had a drive to be the very best. When I was given the chance to take soccer to another level and do competitive soccer; I jumped at the chance.
Football is a very popular sport. I only played football for two years, but I still very much so believe I am literate in football. I started out just being a huge fan of football, but I decided when I was a junior in high school to start actually playing. I was awarded “Special Teams MVP” of my team senior season, and I believe this award only goes to further my claim that I am literate in football. I began playing on the varsity team as a junior, with no prior football experience ever.
It was a hot July night. The softball game that had been scheduled, was cancelled because the other team was short 2 players. Right after the umpires called the game, the girls showed up. So, instead of completely wasting everyone's night, the coaches decided it would be a good idea to have a scrimmage. It would be good practice for everyone.
Soccer had become my go to when I wasn’t feeling good. That’s when my passion for soccer had gotten way stronger. It was all I wanted to do, all I wanted to watch, all I thought about. School had gotten easier, as well as my social life. I found my best friends due to soccer.
My mother had hyped me up to believe I was the cream of the crop and should move on to bigger and better leagues to further my blossoming adolescent soccer career. At eleven years old I had no problem believing my mother knew what was best for me. She knew me better than I knew myself and I was a cooperative child. Within a few weeks, I joined the world of competitive soccer. I experienced a new vibe and atmosphere on my new team.
Friends I had made came from the sport I played. I never ended up asking for friends to come over because to me, practice was hanging out with my friends, doing an activity with a purpose. Most of my closest and truest friends, have come from soccer. We are all bred with the same thought process of the traditional values within the sport. As a result, we have become a more welcoming people, more willing to help others, and inclusive to others.
To end, my personal experience with football has been rough and has been smooth too. I started playing football when I was five and when I was seven and started on my flag football team, I loved it. I started at running back along with Dane Anden and we tore up the league, we were the fastest on my team, and we were the MVP’s of the championship that year. The year after that I suffered my first concussion. I missed a month of school and missed all of my wrestling season.
Adrenaline pulsing through my body and anxiety filling up in my stomach, I quickly throw on my football gear and head out to the practice field. It’s a nice hot day in Ocala, Florida, with the sun beating down on our necks, we stand side by side in line waiting to be picked to play second, third, or fourth string in a play. Waiting in anticipation, each of us grinding our teeth, watching first string pure athletes colliding against each other like gladiators to have possession of a ball made at one-time of “pig’s skin”. To some people, the game of American football makes no sense, whether it’s the idea of trying to protect a ball or running and passing it to make a goal for your team. People like this, see the concept of football and understand why millions of people love it; but to them the sport is pointless and causes way too many casualties.
