As a junior I moved from Ryan HIgh School to Braswell High School due to my zoning with the new school. Braswell High School was a brand new high school. I attended the first year it was open in which the highest grade level they offered was juniors. Most of the students moved from their old high schools to Braswell were devastated due to the strong school spirit at their previous schools. The administration at Braswell attempted to inspire new school spirit in all the students especially the junior class.
Today was the second day of the trial. A doctor testified that Peter had been sane during the school shooting, but the doctor never encountered Peter. In my point of view, people think they know the person that Peter is, by judging only from the day of the shooting. Another doctor that testified was, Dr. King Wah. This man had several interviews with Peter and concluded that Peter had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which happened because of others continually tormenting Peter.
February sixth was the day of my last middle school game. We were playing our rivals , Ledford middle school. The first time we played them we only lost by two points. The first five starters for Ledford and our first five including myself were all standing at half court for tip off. The ref. threw the ball up and Gillian tipped it back to me.
As I traveled through each grade of the Croton-Harmon High School, my personal and academic goals helped to me to really flourish. These goals may have varied from year to year because a freshman is a little different from a senior, but they basically had all the same concept: I wanted to strive in school to be the best all-around student I could be, constantly stay focused and immerse myself in the Croton community. By setting my expectations and goals very high, I could flourish academically and really work to my full potential. By following these goals in school I pushed myself very hard and tried to take classes that would challenge me as well as help me to flourish as a student.
I entered Bishop Connolly High School in fear. I thought I would be drowned by homework, and I thought that I would find difficulty in finding friends. Those notions were not true. But aside from my fears for high school, I had an aspiration to become to closer to God. My family is religious, and I intend to carry the tradition to going to Church every Sunday and every Holy Day of Obligation, but there is more beyond going to Church.
Over spring break, I had the opportunity to watch Bishop DuBourg high school track team practice. I showed up to the track to be greeted by some of the athletes on the distance team. I stood around talking to the guys for about 15 minutes before I asked where the coach was. No one had any idea. Once the coach came out, none of the athletes seemed to acknowledge him.
Summer has come to an end, the school year has just started and Professor Steven Currents, a staff member at the Danville University for the last 27 years, is preparing to teach his first lesson. Life in the town of Danville is just as expected in an average size town, many people know each other and have regular jobs. Danville University is the only college in the 3 surrounding counties, which makes it rather large, holding around 16,000 students. Although the town is average size, the University is large. Professor Currents begins taking attendants when he realizes that 5 of his students enrolled in his class are missing.
Paul was the top of his class at first but when he went to high school he decided to try being popular instead. Barely getting by, Paul went to college for about a year but then dropped out after falling behind. Then he got a job at Sam's Club moving carts and scooping trash. After a brief and awkward conversation with former classmates, Paul realized he wanted to do something with his life and go back to school. For his second try at college, Paul worked harder, studied harder, and eventually worked his way up to getting a 4.0 grade point average.
At Calvin Coolidge Elementary School, advanced math class started in fourth grade. I have been put into the higher math courses ever since then. Once I got to seventh grade, I was put into pre- algebra honors and in eighth grade I was placed in algebra honors. I have never had below a B in math ever which shows that I am a hard worker and I aim to do well in school.
Time is a thief. Before you know it, you’re already in middle school trying to make yourself known. But is it really all worth it in the end? Growing up from the start, I never really knew who I was, but that’s normal because elementary school is for you to build your childhood. It’s for making friends and playing tag with them at the playground or going out for ice cream with your parents after school.
You walk into a classroom and see two dozen kids with faces filled with joy. They sit eagerly waiting for you to open your book and begin the story. You’re making a difference and all you had to do was read. This is the type of opportunity I was given on multiple occasions by the Literacy Express Program. I started participating in Literacy Express my sophomore year with the Holiday Express in December.
As Theodore Roosevelt said, "Nothing Worth Having Was Ever Achieved Without Effort" It is true that nothing comes easy and nothing is for free. My experience at college proves the truth of this quote. My experience as a freshman at Kingsborough Community College was very challenging. In the beginning, it was hard to adapt to the college environment which I had to give up on things I enjoyed, watching movies, hanging out with friends, sleeping 12 hours per day. I said to myself that I must get good grades and reach my goals.
Have you ever moved ? Have you been to a new school ? These are some of the things I have done. There are many more ahead so read on. My trip to Grandma’s
We walked to the Africa trail section of the zoo, and we saw giraffes, lions, and one of my favorite animals, the baboon. The African animals were all out walking around so we got a great view of all of them. We also paid to do the giraffe encounter that they offer at the zoo. We got to go on a small platform that went into the giraffe enclosure and feed the giraffes which was a really neat experience. It made me think of the example in The Gathering the Desert unit where the giraffe had a behavioral change from being a wild animal to being a tame animal that allows people to feed it (Lotze).
That morning I woke up early as I had to be at school for 8am. I was very excited. When I got to school the buses that were to take us were already there and teachers were buzzing around making sure that everything was in order and that all students going had their consent forms. Before we left the teachers gathered all the students and told us to be careful, to stay together also for us to remember our manners, we also said a prayer as it was a custom seeing that it is a Presbyterian School. As we boarded the buses, my friends and I all headed to the back of the bus as it was considered for some
