A mere 29.5 inches in circumference, a basketball may not seem quite important. The Earth’s circumference is 1.5778 billion inches, so a basketball is but a speck of dust compared to the Earth. However, a basketball means so much more than its 29.5 inches: it is my hobby, my passion. Ever since I was a tiny boy, I have loved the game of basketball with every ounce of my heart, and it is the same case today. Some people dream of flying down to the Caribbean for a tropical getaway, paradise for those tourists. Those tourists don’t have to worry about anything as they’re laid back in a chair watching the turquoise blue waves roll in, catching the comfortably warm sun waves, and sipping on an ice-cold Coke. If I have a long day ahead, I could wake up early and shoot the rock, and this gives me the utmost confidence to tackle the day’s task. It is just like when people take a week off from vacation, they come back refreshed and relieved, but ready to tackle life again. A morning on the court brings me that same sense as when you step off the jumbo jet --refreshed. Making shot after shot brings me confidence, confidence that I can ace my test or get A’s on my finals. Yes, I can have rough days shooting, but that doesn’t affect me. Basketball can teach you lessons. If you can’t hit a shot to save your life, you have to think the next one is going in. You can’t just give up. Having a positive attitude will not only help you on the court, but in life. Perseverance is vital for any person ever to step foot on Earth, and that is what helps me make shot after shot. I never give up, not even when I’m satisfied. The constant success does reap rewards and teach lessons, but the peace is also why the court is such a grand getaway. Everyone always needs a little peace and quiet to themselves. It is imperative. My house sits on the edge of the village, so there is not too much ruckus
