It was a normal summer day in Lutz Florida, I was 6 years old at the time and my sister was 4. We were playing inside to get away from the stifling heat from the Florida sun and having a lot of fun doing so. We attempted to entertain ourselves by moving a tennis ball along the floor and eventually, we got bored of that and she wanted a piggy back ride from me. I didn’t think my Dad would appreciate this, but he didn’t seem to mind because he was busy doing something for his work. Reluctantly, I agreed to do it and we did that for a few minutes. After a short while, my back was getting tired so I told her I needed her to get off. I told her at least 5 times to get off of me but she continued to grab my shirt and stay on. He was trying desperately to put pressure on the wound so he used a towel. He then grabbed scotch tape and started trying to tape the cutwhich I think now that was an interesting idea to contain the wound. I was extremely worried as they left for the hospital because I didn’t know what was going to happen. Eventually, my mom came home and told me that she needed 12 stitches to close the cut under her chin. Being a 6-year-old I was more concerned about when my dad came home and the punishment that I would receive. To my surprise I did not receive any punishment but just a stern talking to and a word of advice to think over the possibilities of your actions before you do them. What I learned from this experience is that something done without thinking can have major consequences. I am reminded everyday about what I did because I can still see the scar on her chin and every time I am reminded about how quickly something can be done and it can become permanent. I have a better understanding now that even something small can have big ramifications on someone
