Adjusting to new things aren't always easy, especially moving from New Jersey to Louisiana. As an adolescent I was fortunate with a mother who taught me to love and accept others despite their differences. Moving from the city, to a small conservative town in the south had to be one the hardest things I was forced to do, especially because I would have never imagined the hardships that I would have to face. Assimilating to the new culture was easy, from “Yeah” to “Yes Ma’m” and pronouncements of pecan as “PEE-can ” to “pick-AHN”. But making friends had to be the worst, I …show more content…

Through my experience I realized how much I enjoy meeting, interacting, influencing and speaking with new people. I love to help people through communication. I'm infatuated with intellectual interactions where people can creatively express their self while challenging the mind. The Cathy Hughes school of communications will be the best place and only place I see myself excelling at. Cathy Hughes herself was such an inspiration. As a young African American women she was able to do some much during such a tough time in the 1960s, where she used her voice to uplift and encourage others all over through her small radio show in D.C., her powerful words lead to the reconstruction of her community. I may not own my radio show one day but I look up to Cathy Hughes in many ways and as aspire to be a influential as her. Howard school of Communications will the place to fulfill my academic goals because I know I can execute all my goals, such as the ability to network, intern and communicate effectively wherever I go while expressing myself creatively. The school of communications will prepare me for the world workplace. With such an dedicated and experienced facility I will gain a well exercised sense of curiosity, the ability to formulate new social physiological and cultural questions and intellectual tools I will need to find those questions now and for future in the
