Buchenwald On 1937, Buchenwald concentration camp was established on the Ettersberg near Weimar, Germany. The camp was constructed in a wooden area on the Northern slopes. Women were not part of the camp system until year 1941. Most of the early inmates at the Buchenwald camp were political prisoners. The German SS and police sent about 10,000 Jews to Buchenwald where they were subjected to cruel treatment.
We are going to discuss the article, “At the Holocaust Museum,” by David Oliver Relin. This document is about the museum in Washington, DC that informs of the horrors Hitler and his Nazi party did to the Jews during World War II, killing more than 6 million and taking away their citizenship and rights. This fact about the Holocaust portrays objectivity through measurable data. A majority of informal articles are primarily objective over subjective; informing the reader and giving the reader facts and data than displaying or providing a point of view or emotions. Subjectivity is when the text or segments of the text are being based on or influenced by someone's personal feelings, tastes, or opinions; the author’s, characters, or other people’s.
I went from being happy and joyful to feeling a pit in my stomach. I always had an idea as to how terrible the Holocaust was. It was not until I stepped into the two exhibits that I truly felt the pain of the situation. Being surrounded by volunteers whose families were present, and even seeing some real life survivors changed the Holocaust from something I read in my textbook, to something that actually happened in real life to real people. I always felt the sadness that surrounded the topic.
The holocaust is an event that was lead by a man named hitler, he and his army killed 6 million jews. And the holocaust museum shows what the holocaust was about and everything that the prisoners went through. Some fictional texts are more subjective meaning it shows more emotions and point of view. In the Article “At The Holocaust Museum” is both subjective and objective because they include people's perspectives on the holocaust and objective because its shows facts.

These survivors who experienced this event, have been scarred for the rest of their life. We can listen to their stories but we can’t imagine and experienced what they have gone through. For example, Szymon Binke, Hilma Geffen, and Baker Ella, were the survivors of the Holocaust. Szymon Binke was born in 1931 in Poland, his family moved to the city after the Nazi’s invasion. Nazis deported his family to Auschwitz where his mother and sister were gassed, while, Szymon was placed in Kinder block but after sometime he ran away to meet his family in Auschwitz.
Although I have never committed an act of violence nor treated others with hatred, I was persecuted by the Nazis along with the rest of my family when I was five years old. Soldiers told me it was because of my sinful religion, so just because I was Jewish I was against everything German. However, I simply could not understand why I was loathed by my own home country. I thought that since I had grown up in Germany, was of German descent, and spoke German that I would be considered German. To my surprise, the Nazi’s treated German Jews the same as Jews in conquered territories by boycotting Jewish-businesses, forbidding marriage between us Jews and other Germans, and strpping us of our German citizenship.
What saddened me the most was that it seemed like people had not learned from the Holocaust what they should have. This also makes me feel that what we were doing there was much more important than we originally thought. The Holocaust is still a topic that needs to be talked about and taught. People of the Jewish descent did not have it easy; they either were forced out of their homes into concentration camps, or they would hide out only to be found and killed of they remained in their settlements.
