Personal Narrative: My Writing Assignment Of High School

Satisfied with my work, I did the finishing touches on my portfolio and soon after realized my last writing assignment of high school is tomorrow. Although I have been waiting for this day for many years, it was sad to think that all my work has come to an end for high school. Coming into this class I was frightened from all the work that was assigned and was just hoping to finish with a “B” because I had never been a strong writer; however, half way through the semester I had seen a significant improvement in my writing skills and it is possible to finish with an “A”. I believe the reason it improved so much is because I time managed way more than have in previous years; in fact, most essays I had to write were written the night before they were do and I would just meet the length requirement without revising or editing. And that is when metacognition comes into play, I actually started to think before I would write. I would create a detailed outline with quotes, facts, and stats. Making it easier to write the paper because I have thought out what I am going to write about and I can feed off my own ideas. …show more content…

Now that I know how to do each step of the writing at a college level it has improved my papers significantly. I would start out by making an outline, than I would type a rough draft correcting any mistakes along the way, then I would print it off read it aloud and correct any more punctual or grammatical mistakes, after that I would correct all the mistakes on the computer and finally print and hand in. Just adding a few steps to my writing has made my essays sound more intelligent and trustworthy. However, I still need improvement on generalization, because I am a passionate writer and when I start talking about something I am passionate about, I state my opinions as
