I was born on a Navy base in San Diego a little before two in the mourning. I am the youngest with two older sisters Shauna and Cassie. We basically lived two-thirds of our childhood on military bases stationed throughout the United States of America. My father being in the Navy meant we moved a lot I have lived in New Orleans, Pensacola, and San Diego and finally we settled in Tomball, Texas which is thirty minutes away from Houston. I went to a lot of different schools during my childhood an sometimes we would move before the year is up which made it difficult for me in school.
Growing up, I never believed I had an identity. When I delve back to my earliest of memories, both English and Spanish made an appearance in my dialogue. Because my life had always remained constrained in a blend of American and Mexican culture, it was difficult to distinguish exactly which group I resonated most with. Here in the Rio Grande Valley, it is an internal war that is fought constantly. Whoever could predominantly show their Mexican heritage would be held at a great regard for not neglecting their roots.
It was two months before my fifth grade graduation and three years from my parents divorce. Little did I know the news my mom told me that day would change my life forever. Tears came down my face when she told me we were going to be moving to New Jersey. At this moment I was feeling very confused and startled. Not only was I upset because I was leaving a place I have called home for eight years, but because I was leaving my friends and most importantly my dad and brother.
I was to immediately move across country to live with my strict uncle and his family of six after my parents discovered I had a boyfriend at the age of fifteen. They were afraid I was brainwashed by the American culture. They thought it was best to move us from Phoenix, Arizona to Shelby Township, Michigan to be around people of my ethnicity, mostly my family. I remember crying the entire way there, the tears running down my face began to expose streaks due to the non-water-proof loreal foundation I had on. my father tried to convince me that my destiny was in Michigan.
Three years ago in July, my family was surprised with a vacation to Frisco, Colorado. It was my first time seeing mountains, and I was not disappointed. Ever since we returned, I have been in love with the towering rocky formations that unfortunately do not exist along the coastline of Florida. Therefore, if one were to ask me where in the world I would wish to live the most, I would easily insist Frisco, Colorado. There happens to be something about the glittering aspens and white stone coating the mountainsides of Colorado that I love.
Only last year I was faced to live without my mom and brother the closest and precious family. The time was the most difficult moment in my life that year and still lives on with me to this day. For 16 years they were always by my side when I needed them until the start of my third year of high school. The transition from Canada to Texas I thought would be simple and fun. However, what I predicted was the opposite of what would happen.
At the age of 6, my mother informed my siblings and I that we would be moving from Alaska to Washington. In the beginning, we were all drawn with sadness due to having to leave the place we called home, our family, and friends that we had made. My mother had told us it was for the better, we would be better able to thrive in Washington. At the time my father had work hours on end, while my mother was at home watching the kids. The job that my father had paid well, but required that he constantly works.
Moving to Iowa Falls I moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa when I was in sixth grade. This had a big impact on my life. I was really nervous and scared. I didn’t want to move at all. I was really angry.
I believe, being a single mom with two kids and commuting 1 ½ hour everyday from Turlock to Fresno and my work and volunteer experiences that I have more than ten years in different organizations, such as charities, schools, hospitals, restaurant, physician’s office and other communities will show internship directors that I am very committed to dietetics program. Also, I have a warm personality, and I am a team player. I am a good listener, and I am a problem solver and a good one. I enjoy the challenge of identifying a problem, analyzing it and solving it. Somehow, I might bring other skills and values, such as creativity, integrity and kindness due to my personality and my volunteer work in different fields.
In Colorado we had a nice old house with a big backyard, and a huge hill to go sledding on in the winter. Life was good. Our school was a Charter school which I didn’t like because we had to wear uniforms. Our school was just down the hill and it took less than five minutes to get there because of traffic, there was a intersection right at the bottom of the hill.
Across the Country There will be a journey from Sacramento, California to the state capital of Madison, Wisconsin. This journey will be taken by 4 very different individuals. of course, they're my team vessel for this road trip is a tanky little van built to use as little gas as possible with no flattering to its physical Beauty. Of course, they go over the things they need for when they are up on the trip up. The seminar they plan to intend involving many things from proper police conduct to ways to quicken legal proceedings.
There I was, fifty feet up and feet dangling from that magical metal bench as we soared towards the summit. It was a cold and cloudy day at Breckenridge Ski Resort in Colorado. I was bundled up from head to toe, ready to brace the elements and hopefully my fears. As our journey on the lift was coming to an end we prepared to disembark to a much more daunting quest. When we reached the top we exited the chair lift and I nearly fell face first into the ice cold now, but I caught myself and was able to maintain my balance.
Who wouldn’t love to go to California? Going to California could be the most enjoyable moment of your life, why don’t you try it out! Going to California was by far my favorite vacation, I got to see the Hollywood sign, go to Disney Land, and get in the Pacific Ocean. I always saw the Hollywood sign on television but now I got to see it in person with my own eyes! It was exciting to see the Hollywood sign
Jake and I begged to stay home, but our parents did not buy it. When my dad arrived home from work, we jumped in the truck and left. Even though it was only a half hour ride it felt like we had been driving forever. We arrived to an unknown town at a random house that I did not recognize.
