The United States Supreme Court case Stanford vs. Kentucky was a national debate that permitted the hypocrisy of the death penalty, which at the time stated that all offenders who were of the age sixteen years or older at the time of their crime would receive the punishment of execution. It was the spring of 7th grade, and a young and naive Jackson Lampley was training to become a Tennessee Future Star. The Tennessee Future Stars is an all star football team for 7th graders, and there is also one for 8th graders. After trying out for the seventh grade team in the 6th grade, and not making it. 13 year old Jackson Lampley was determined to make the 7th grade team. I was so determined like Rocky Balboa in Rocky VI (the best movie of the series), you could 've probably made a pretty epic training montage for me.

The Religion of Southern College Football In “Pulled Pork and Pigskin,” by Wright Thompson, the author discusses the religion-like qualities of college football in the south. Thompson provides Ole Miss as an example of college football traditions. However, Ole Miss is not the only team with unique qualities and traditions, and the author also lists some of the famous traditions from other college football teams across the south. Another strong example of a team with the qualities of a religion is the South Carolina Gamecocks.
My church plays in the Turkey Bowl Flag Football Tournament every November. This was not only a time to bond with my youth group, but to also create friendships with other church teams. However, there was a problem: my team consisted of players from age 13-20; however, the 13 year olds had little-to-no flag football experience. Consequently, they got less playtime and slowly became discouraged However, as a leader I wanted to show them otherwise: I coached them, helped them, and give them a new perspective on the game.

A few weeks ago, I was finally able to make my first Georgia Southern baseball game. I am not proud that it took over a year for me to ultimately make a game. I have never been the biggest baseball fan, but I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to see Georgia Southern play the University of Georgia. I was very curious to see how the stadium and field looked, because I heard about the new renovations that the school added in the offseason. I also was interested to analyze how they promote their sponsors, because I will be doing the same thing when I start my internship this fall, at East Coweta High School.
The Cougars Final Game Doesn’t every team want to win their first state title. In a little town in Iowa, the team Iowa Cougars were going for their first state title. The team was being lead with their senior named Anthony Soto. He has been the starting quarterback every year. He had no injuries all 4 years so no one else got a chance.
The Thursday night lights beamed down on me as kickoff approached. It was the last game of the 8th grade football season and the last chance to make my mark on a personally rather ordinary season. We were playing Celina, a team known to be a powerful opponent. I was on the kickoff return team, playing on the far left side of the field and on that particular night we were set to receive the kick. Throughout my life, I have traveled to many different cities in the United States. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to experience staying in a different country or foreign culture for an extended period. One experience that I experienced culture shock in would be my travels to Mississippi. About six years ago, I joined my grandmother’s family in their travel to her native hometown of Holly Springs, Mississippi to visit her relatives.
The sport I chose to observe was college football. I decided to chose this sport because football is a sport my family enjoys to watch. Also I enjoy watching football more than any other sport because there is so much that could happen, in football many unexpecting plays could happen, and each game is different than the last one. The game I chose to watch was a college football game between the University of Notre Dame and the University of Miami that took place at the University of Miami on Saturday, November 11, 2017. The game started with Miami kicking the ball to Notre Dame.
Adrenaline pulsing through my body and anxiety filling up in my stomach, I quickly throw on my football gear and head out to the practice field. It’s a nice hot day in Ocala, Florida, with the sun beating down on our necks, we stand side by side in line waiting to be picked to play second, third, or fourth string in a play. Waiting in anticipation, each of us grinding our teeth, watching first string pure athletes colliding against each other like gladiators to have possession of a ball made at one-time of “pig’s skin”. To some people, the game of American football makes no sense, whether it’s the idea of trying to protect a ball or running and passing it to make a goal for your team. People like this, see the concept of football and understand why millions of people love it; but to them the sport is pointless and causes way too many casualties.
