In today's society, many people do not recognize community college as a place of opportunity and growth. Liz Addison utilizes a sarcastic tone at the beginning of her essay and later a hopeful tone as well as short and long syntax to convey her belief that community college is the best place to grow and achieve anything. Addison’s use of a sarcastic tone in the first paragraph shows how she feels about college in the years before. By stating “Those days, man, when a pretentious reading list was all it took to lift a child from suburbia. When jazz riffs hung in the dorm lounge air with the smoke of a thousand bongs, and college really mattered”, Addison presents her belief that college, in earlier years, was not as prestigious as community
Hello Professor Clement after reading over the scenario again I feel that his death could have been caused by an accident because he could have been with some friends who were trespassing on the property and drinking. Therefore, given his age he could have been drunk and fell which may have caused him to hit his head. There is also the fact that he could have had a medical condition which no one knew about which could have caused him to have a sudden heart attack because a heart attack has no age of person. Furthermore, if the victim was not murdered and there was others with him but they were trespassing they would not want to get in trouble for being on someone else’s property without permission plus they could have been drinking and had
“How did you know about his death,”said Helping Hands. ”Well, all I know is that he had a dream that he was going to die in 10 days and he had the dream 10 days ago,”said the Taylor. ”Did someone go into his apartment and if so what did he or she look like?”said Alexis. “Yeah there was a women who went in there and I didn't say anything because I thought it was his sister or something” said Taylor.
I hope you enjoy the reading my manuscript as much as I enjoyed writing.
This assignment was one of the hardest paper we had to do in our quarter because, we had complete freedom on how we wanted to develop our topic. During the peer review I found out that I had done the assignment wrong and didn 't have a clear idea of what I wanted to project in my paper. I took a moment to decide what I wanted to say and started to change and remove sentences that weren 't necessary. On my first draft of my Literacy Narrative I made negative statements about my writing, which wasn 't the purpose of the assignment. After some time, I finally decided to write about my growth in writing and how I found another outlet for my creativity and where I consider myself to be good at.
I saw people going back to their work block and they were stricken with fear. I wanted to make a difference here but there was no way I could do that. I am now writing in this journal about my story. I packed it in my bag but never had the chance to right in it. I was slowly dying but I needed to share my story.
ARMAND, uncharacteristically leaning against the wall casually. “Over five hundred years I’ve been alive, David, and never have I ever stopped to acknowledge all that I have done during my years until tonight. But that doesn’t mean that I am not aware of my age, of the years that I have spent on this earth. I told you my story, how I began and what happened after. You know practically all that I have done─the condensed version, at least.
Tears streamed my face and confusion set on his for he did not know why I was leaving. All I could do was kiss his cheeks and hug him harder. He chased our canter all the way out of his village and I waved and cried until he was out of sight. I never knew his name but his face is ever burned in my heart. I had been living selfishly, constantly consumed with myself.
My next struggle was to keep Victoria alive. She would lock herself in her room and wanted no one around her. She started drinking a lot and just was not herself. She refused to go to counseling. This continued for several months.
I was standing in front of a store doorway. Dressed in a brown shirt, a gun weaved in both hands and a straight face. I was only with my thoughts, which had made me reminisce about the past. I was thinking of the war. The day I was leaving I said goodbye to my wife and my children.
I went home and started my plan to find this person who framed me. I was ready to give up my everything to catch this one person who made my life horrible. I was trying to think of the best possible way to catch this person when I thought, I should just camp out by that old barn again. The killer has to come back at one point to either collect the body or meet his other henchman in the crime. I decided to pack a bag and get ready to stake out the old barn one more time.
With the instruction given to me over the past few months, I have grown as a writer and gained confidence in my writing skills. When I
I accidentally responded, startling myself. I rub my eyes and shake my head in an attempt to wake myself up some more. Putting my moment of insanity aside I started to write once again. My fingers flew across the keys in an attempt to put the story together in the moment. I was determined to continue until I saw that I was finished.
As a kid I always have loved to write; from short stories about mythical beasts and strange lands, to research papers about my favorite animal. My love for reading and writing came from my Dad, who has so many books we have a library room in the house. From the earliest I can remember, my Dad read to me every night, and it all started with Goodnight Moon by Margret Brown. In the story, the character says “Goodnight..” to everything was introduced earlier, and when I was little, I would walk around and say goodbye to everything I came in contact with, “Goodbye milk at Safeway”, “Goodbye tree”. Certain stories that I read or have been read to me, have stuck with me and have affected twenty years of decision making and have helped tune my moral
In Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 1981 novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrative recounts the events leading up to the eventual murder of bachelor Santiago Nasar, a man accused of taking the virginity of the defrocked bride Angela Vicario despite the lack of evidence to prove the claim, and the reactions of the citizens who knew of the arrangement to sacrifice Nasar for the sake of honor. This highly intricate novella incorporates a range of literary techniques, all of which are for the readers to determine who is really to blame for Santiago Nasar’s death. Marquez uses techniques such as foreshadowing and the structure of narrative, along with themes such as violence, religion, and guilt to address the question of blame. Although Santiago
