I like Math class because it's all makes sense to me and has things to back it up, while other classes sometimes just wiz right by me and I get confused. I do marching band and I play the trombone. My older brother is a senior and he is also in band and he plays the saxophone.
In the poem “Ego-Tripping” by Nikki Giovanni, she normalizes her worth by continuing to royalist herself as a black woman who is essential to mankind. Giovanni creates a vision throughout the poem, which leaves a thought in mind of how woman should look at themselves with much confidence as Giovanni does. “Ego Tripping” was written by Yolande Cornelia “Nikki” Giovanni, Jr. who was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 7, 1943. G9iovanni is a writer, poet, activist, and educator whose work was influenced during the Black Power Movements and the Civil Rights Movement. The poem was released in 2002.
In 7th grade, I transferred from Bryan Middle school to Visitation Catholic School and there was not enough room in the accelerated math program, which ultimately set me behind. In high school, I found myself bored in math and knew I needed to challenge myself, so I ended up setting up a meeting with the math department head and we discussed my options. Sophomore year, I ended up taking two math classes, which was not easy; double the test, quizzes and lessons! However, by taking two math classes, I was able to get myself into a higher math class which ultimately was my goal, and achieving it was an amazing feeling.
‘For What It’s Worth’ by Buffalo Springfield has a logical message because it is referring to the Sunset Strip Riots that took place in Hollywood during the 1960’s. People protested when they lost their civil rights due to a curfew law that was put into place. The song says, “Stop, children, what’s that sound. Everybody look- what’s going down?”

Throughout the entire course I stressed myself to get my assignments done as quickly as possible. I wasn’t able to master the materials in the beginning, and it hurt me throughout the rest of the semester. I tried to recover by staying on top of homework, visiting the BLC and my TA’s office hours, and studying even more for exams. In the end, the hard work didn’t pay off, for I still received a D in the class. Although I passed, I am still disappointed in the grade I received and my experience in the class as a whole.
Love! By just, instantaneously, uttering it, many thoughts come to the mind from happy, sad, unearthly feelings and emotions; as the proverb says: “It is love that makes the impossible possible”, and, in many philosophies of the world that only in love “1+1 may not necessarily be equal to two [and love makes your feelings and thoughts] … set… on fire” (Alsanea 2),mentioned in every land, culture, civilization…etc.; Also, this wonderful equation of love is expressed in Romeo and Juliet when Friar Lawrence stated, “ Till Holy church incorporate two in one” ( II. V. 37).What is more, many poets, males and females, say poetry on account of elaborating their inner feelings towards something or someone. Through all periods of time, each culture has its own love mixed with its people identity as well as blended with many special “flavors” and an intuition that stabilizes in their hearts; love is the language of soul, unlike distaste which is the language of devils as the Armenian adage states, “all men have three ears, one on the left of his head, one on the right and one in his heart”.
The poetic-narrative autoethnography presented here explores my experience and struggle with my fear of public speaking. Public speaking is the number one fear in America that people possess, even over death, which is at number two. Jerry Seinfeld made a joke about this statistic in one of his bits when he brought up that at a funeral, people would rather be in the casket than to speak the eulogy. Halina Ablamowicz said, “…public speaking is one of the greatest fears among Americans and at the same time, it is considered as one of the most desirable and sought after skills” (98).
