Rodeo has helped me grow up. Since third grade I went from going to rodeos with my family to chasing the white lines on my own. I have had numerous opportunities presented to me from rodeo such as being on tv for qualifying for Worlds, traveling all the way to New Mexico and Wyoming to compete, and being rodeo queen for Southern Indiana Junior Rodeo Association. My parents took care of my horses for me. They cleaned stalls, fed them day and night, and packed the trailer for each rodeo.
For my second concert report, I went to see South Alabama’s Flute Choir and Celtic Crue perform in the Spring Concert. The USA Flute Choir performed a total of six pieces and the Celtic Crue performed four short pieces of Irish tradition. The concert was on Thursday March 30, 2017 at 7:30 pm in the Laidlaw Recital Hall. The first piece was A Gaelic Offering by Catherine McMichael and consisted of two movements. This piece was a flute quartet in the first movement, but in the second movement one performer switched to a piccolo.
Throughout high school I have been very involved in my choir program. Music has always inspired and intrigued me. I decided to audition for Colorado All-state choir my junior year. I had to learn a solo and practice many other aspects of being a well-rounded vocalist. When I auditioned I was very nervous but it was nothing compared to the pain I felt of not making it two months later.
On a hot game day in Athens Georgia where is the most likely place you can find Carine? Marching with the Redcoat band of course! Throughout High School my dream was to one-day march with the famous Redcoat Band. All I wanted was to wear the striking black hat with the arches and proudly display the Georgia G on my back.
Elegant dresses swooshing across the dance floor and the buzz of excited chatter in the distance fill a long white hall. At one end of the elongated room there is a circle in the middle of the dance floor with each person holding the hand of the next. As for me, I’m a part of the circle, my hand being nervously clung to by the girl next to me who is wearing a beautiful deep violet antique dress that matches her glasses. Her eyes are darting around the room full of people, her breathing becoming more erratic. The girl’s name is Mason and she’s a part of Maple Valley Youth Symphony’s Jam Club, a music group for children with special needs.
When you think of country music what do you think of? Perhaps you think of tall, brown cowboy hats or southern twangs. I think of the Grand Ole Opry. I had the opportunity to attend the 90th birthday celebration this past Saturday. It was a magical event filled with history, laughs, and, obviously, music.
On February 12, 2016, at 7:00 P.M., I attended the Symphonic Wind Band concert at Bob Jones University. The concert was conducted by Dan Turner, and the name of the performance was named European Travelogue. It consisted of a predominant woodwind ensemble, with some percussion throughout. It had the instruments one would expect in a woodwind performance: flutes, piccolos, oboes, etc. The concert consisted of mainly short pieces, with a one longer piece midway.
Run of Glory Ever since I was seven years old my best friend, Quinn Parker, and I wanted to play basketball for Downsby High School, the number one high school basketball team in America. We would train every day, no matter rain or shine, just so we could see the names Evan Johnson and Quinn Parker on the Downsby starting line-up. We played basketball together with the same team, and the same coach, at the same place. It’s basically my second home where I go to see my second family.
I enjoy playing the piano and violin, and am working towards grade 7 on both. In addition to these, I keep in touch with my Indian roots and play the tabla and Indian violin. I am also part of the National Youth Orchestra for Indian Music, the school orchestra and the school choir. Through numerous performances in ensembles and as a soloist, I have learned how to better cope with pressure. Learning to play multiple instruments has required commitment and perseverance, and has improved my time-management skills, as I have had to practice, rehearse and perform alongside my studies and other
When a person hears the word obstacle, high school cheerleading rarely would come to mind. For me that’s all that I think of. My last season of high school cheerleading, in a nutshell, was short and bitter. Life threw injuries to all members of my stunt group, girls were caddy and spread rumors, but most importantly, I didn 't have fun. Around the beginning of November, I got a concussion.
I had an awesome summer this year! My family and I spent lots of time with our relatives and doing fun activities. During the summer we rodeo, spent time with family, worked, went on vacation and just spent time with friends. Read below to find more about my exciting summer. Rodeo is something I do a lot in the summer.
Band has always had some type of involvement in my life. Whether it was me making the music or someone else performing and me just spectating, observing, the music. When I was back in elementary, I played piano with enjoyment, it was all I ever wanted to play. My oldest sister, Kaycee, was one of the reasons I chose flute. In all honesty, playing flute was not my choice, if I had it my way I would have played piano since I loved piano before fourth grade.
Have you ever met someone or a group of people that you knew will be your closest friends? When you first talk to these people you knew that you will build an unbreakable bond. My violin is cheerleading. Not just because of the passion I have for that sport, but because of the girls on that team. The girls on this team have got me through hard times.
“Alright, everyone. Take five for water and be back here at... 6:33- no, make that 6:35. ” These are the words that I live for. Those few minutes of sweet relief from the strenuous weight of an instrument and the ever repeating show.
On February 22, Jenny woke up extremely excited about the day’s plans. She had a date with a friend later that evening. Jenny spent most of the day getting dressed, undressed, then redressed, doing her make-up, and fixing her hair. By 6:30 P.M. she was completely ready. She decided to eat a light meal while she waited on Tom to pick her up.
