Personal Narrative: The Five Strengths

Everyone has their own strengths and weakness. According to the StrengthsQuest survey I have five great strengths (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). These strengths for me are Context, Deliberative, Competition, Futuristic and Input. It was very surprising to see how the descriptions was on point. This paper will discuss how the five strengths contribute to my life past, present and future. The first strength that will talk about is Context. A Context theme person likes to “ look back” on life (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006, p.41). They said I look back to understand my present. This to me was a very accurate assessment of my life. I always research things or ask questions before I make any decisions. Second, I would like to touch on the theme of Deliberative. A Deliberative person is a careful and private person (Clifton, et al., 2006). A Deliberative person looks for the underlying risk. This was a very intriguing find for me because I do risk management for a living. The last five years I have been a manager at a financial institution. Which I find form reading is a good job for a Deliberative person. Every day I have to decide on whether a customer is creditworthy. The third theme is Competition. A person with Input as your theme is an inquisitive person (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). They also like to collect things. Whether it is objects or information, they are collectors. Now this last theme I have always used this one. I have always wanted to know more. I remembered in the past if I was told to read one chapter I would read two or maybe the whole book. I just wanted to know what will happen next. I have always collected information in case I needed it later. It was enlightening to find out that I had this strength. I have always kept the family history together. This has always been done with joy and I plan on continuing to do
