Crackle, pop the fire sounded as I placed new logs on top of the hot embers. This was the fire the children of my village sat around and told stories before they went to sleep, and tonight was no different. All of their eyes stared at me expectantly as they waited for me to start telling them a story. “Two Rivers Running, tell us the Story of the Great Battle again,” the little ones asked. All eyes were on me as I sat down next to them, everyone silent as I told them the story of the Great Battle.
We humans often consider ourselves to be apex predators, invincible thanks to our superior intelligence. Somewhere deep within our subconscious, there is an ever present awareness of danger, but it’s easier to ignore the notion. Thus, "the world is stable and life is secure" isn’t an unreasonable conclusion. At age twelve, I was living in this state of mind, content with not having to face the fragility of my existence, when I picked up Richard Preston’s The Hot Zone. The title page boasted that it was “a terrifying true story”.
The Fidget Spinner that Rocked the World Friendship is an amazing thing. Having a bond that can be so close is important yet sometimes these bonds break in a second. My experience with friendship is a rocky boat, my best friend and I lost our relationship over a plastic wonder, a Fidget Spinner….. My Fidget Spinner. My “best friend” and I were walking to the bus stop together.
My personal Artifact is a baseball my son and I caught at the Giants game. It is white, round, has red stitches, and is smooth when new, but when we caught it it was beat up and the blue writing on it was smeared. A baseball is small and light in size. It can be thrown at speeds up to 100 MPH, or hit at at speeds higher than 100MPH, so when playing the game or watching you should be paying attention at all times. A baseball is made of a rubber or cork center, wrapped in yarn very tight, covered by white leather with red stitching around the out side, making it a very hard ball.
The Pad is a burger place in north Topeka. The Pad has been in the same place for the last forty or so years. It is a medium sized building with its sign out front being a rocket ready to launch. Most days The Pad is not that crowded, but always has a good amount of people there. Many families have been going to The Pad for generations.
My Family Thanksgiving Imagine you and your family all having a good time, enjoying yourself, and watching T.V. And that’s some of what I did at Thanksgiving. My family are very important to me because, they make other people laugh and do nice things. My Aunt Joann likes to make jokes, makes people laugh a lot, and makes great sweet potato pie.
I guess on day two, I broke one of the tattoo artist commandments and asked if the “Tattoo Gun” was missing any parts. As soon as the words slipped through my lips, all four artists, who were in the shop that day stopped tattooing and piercing, looked at me and yelled: “IT’S A TATTOO MACHINE NOT A TATTOO GUN”! I felt my face get red and hot. It was like I insulted their God or something.
We went back to my grandmas house and played outside we climbed the tree. We also played tag we were laughing and running because my cousin farted. Then we took a break and played with the dog. It started to get dark so we would have to go back home. I was sad to leave but I knew I would visit them next
Today I am working with an expeditious and powerful pitcher. As she lines up to pitch I can see that this pitch is going to hurt me even with the protective gear on. I focus on the ball as she winds up her arm with quick movement, and then I close my eyes for a swift moment to think about the possible harm I am going to receive. The mental wall that everyone builds after being emotionally scarred makes many people think that nothing will ever hurt them. They are extraordinary wrong.
I have had tough hope once, I had to move to a different state and start to get used to the new place. Moving was hard and took a long time to move everything to our new house. My new house was hard to get used to because it was different and I wasn 't used to it which made it hard to sleep and I had to leave my friends behind and I would have to find new friends. Making new friends was hard because I would be alone until I found new friends and I would have no one to talk to so I would be very quiet. Usually I would always be talking to a friend and I am only social with friends.
While i was in the house getting dress with my mom. when we was done we went outside. I started playing with the other kids who was outside already. while my parents hung out with the adults.
All of us had fun, but we were exhausted. We went back to the rental and played some video games. Soon after my mom shouted, “Come eat dinner!” Then me and my sisters raced down the stairs and went right to the dining room. We ate to our fill and then we went right to
Long ago in a land once known as the United States of America, in a time where everyone had freedoms that no longer exist today, religious freedom had no price. Back then, everyone was free to practice whatever religion they pleased. That all changed the day the continents collided; an event that was much later given the name the Collision. For a time, there was peace but even a tentative peace can’t last forever. Only days after the Collision, the Vatican City sent its troops out across the newly formed continent.
From playing dominos with my grandpa daily to going out for dinner with my cousins, it was all fun. One of the first nights, 3 of my cousins, my sister and I went out for dinner, and went to the town square (they have free wifi!). My cousins decided to show us this video: Potter Puppet Pals: The Mysterious Ticking Noise. We started laughing instantly mainly because my cousins knew the lyrics to the song in the video, it was gold! We definitely laughed for a good ten minutes.
