“Next, put your hands together for the Michigan City Wolves,” said the announcer. This meant we were two groups away from performing. The team I cheered for was the La Porte Slicers Pop Warner Midget Cheer Team. The midget team is the oldest team you can be on for Pop Warner. The girls are between the ages of 11 (6th grade) through 14 (9th grade). There were thirteen girls on my team and only three of them have never cheered before. I didn’t feeling like we were performing that day when we got there, even through check-in. Once we were standing behind the curtains I became nervous and excited at the same time. I was one team away from performing. Once everybody got down to the floor, they played music for like 30 minutes for every body to dance to, and pass the time. Once the judges were done with the scores, they had everybody sit down. Then they started calling of the placings. The announcer calls the placing by the teams divisions. There are 6 divisions. It then goes by what size group they have, and finally what level they are. By being one of the oldest we are almost last to be called. Once the announcer was 2 groups away from ours, we start to hold hands. When you held the person's hand next to you could feel them shaking and sweating. Finally it was time to find out what place we got. The announcer said who got second place, and everyone on my team started crying. “ The first place team advancing to Florida is the La Porte Slicers!” My team stood up and started screaming. As a result, we made it to Florida! My coach went up to get our trophy and we all took pictures with it. It was one of the best days of my
