During an early morning, a kid had his test scores handed back to him for him to discover that he scored a 75% on an Algebra test. This kid had dread and disgust smothered on his face. Soon after, the kid would grow a desire to do much better on the upcoming finals, in which he studied from when the fiery sun rose until the mysterious moon would arise to brighten the night and all its inhabitants, just because he had the hunger to ace the upcoming test. The day of the finals arose as the kid felt ready to battle the final test for his Algebra class. The kid fought long and hard and would soon find out that he scored a 93% on the test.
When I first thought about how soccer impacted my life, nothing really came to mind. I was that kid who mostly looked forward to the end of the game snacks and bringing around the goal jar. But when I actually began thinking about more about playing soccer I realized that soccer was the first place where I was fully submerged into something completely new. I learned how to make friends, how be a leader, and how to have good sportsmanship. These are all things that have made me into the person I am today and it all began on the soccer field.
I wish I could say my coach quitting was my first recognition of my team splitting up, but it wasn’t. Cancelled practices, losing streaks and bad attitudes all foreshadowed the breakup of the Travel Soccer Team I had been apart of for five years. Anger fluctuated throughout me after I heard the news, for I was losing not only long-time friendships and strong relationships with coaches, but soccer itself which had been my main outlet to perturbation since I was taught how to kick a ball. I knew I couldn’t let go of the sport. I had to search for a new team.
The start of my freshman year was a thrilling experience for me. To start out my freshman year I made the schools Varsity soccer team, a huge accomplishment for me. However, I was naïve to the coming situation to myself. I was on the path to continuous harassment from teammates as I was surrounded by seniors. Many of the seniors had egos, full of themselves in every aspect possible.
Most people do not believe that becoming a professional athlete is possible, but I think that with the right preparation, it is possible for me to achieve my career goal of becoming a professional soccer player. For people to acquire the career of their dreams, they will need to set themselves a series of goals. These goals will be conquered over varying time periods, while some goals take just hour or days or others that take weeks, months, or even years. Each career will require different preparation, but for me as an aspiring soccer player I will need to practice very often.
The past few weeks here at the University of Maine at Farmington have been excellent. I had the opportunity to come a week early to try out for the girls soccer team. I didn 't make the team but in retrospect, I think that was the best thing to happen to me. I moved into Dakin on the 24th of August. My roommate there was a sophomore that was here for the field hockey team.
I have played premier/select soccer for 11 years, I dreamt of being a pro soccer player when I was little. The summer of 8th grade I tried out for the high school soccer team. After the three days of trying out. I waited to see if my name was on the roster. My dad called me
It was a radiant day in March with just a little breeze, a perfect day to play soccer. The first half of the game was just coming to an end and I had played center midfield the entire match. My team was in the lead, and we were playing a compelling game. A fake left around the girl coming at me and a lofted pass to my teammate on the wing.
Most people are loyal to one sport, but when it comes to fundamentals in any sport, you can never go wrong with running. When I was in fourth grade I played soccer. I wasn’t too bad, and mostly played defense and a bit of center mid. I had terrible stamina when it came to running laps, and I wasn’t on the faster side either. I was as fast a CHEETAH!
One of my best days was when my soccer team won the championship. I won several other championships ,but with other teams. This was my first season playing with this team. The major characters in this event were me, my teammates, my coaches and the parents. This event took place in a park at sanger during the summer.
Being shoved to the ground and coming up with a mouthful of turf and a bloody nose isn’t the ideal way to spend a friday night, but for me, it's something I put blood, sweat, and tears into. Soccer has been a passion of mine since my father dropped me off at the local YMCA when I was at the tender age of four. Spending all of my free days for thirteen years running after a soccer ball is arguably what made me into the person I am today. Unity, tenacity, passion and pride have all been morals that are valued within the sport and in my own philosophy. I have explored places I’d never give a second thought to because my sport took me there.
I have been playing soccer since before I could even walk. In fact, I joined my first soccer team at the age of five. Soccer is something I have always loved and been passionate about. When I was on the co-ed recreation league teams I was one of the only girls on my team, so I had to compete with boys who doubted me and thought I was weak. I worked hard during practice and out of practice to become better and, eventually, I became more aggressive than them.
“In a final championship game, we have to demonstrate all of our potential. Demonstrate to everyone that you guys gave all of your effort. Do not be the team that blew the championship game last season by losing 4-0. A final should always be a close and tough game, but I truly believe you guys will come out on top as champions of the league.” Those were the last words from my coach before the referee blew the whistle for the two teams to join in the middle.
One of the most significant activities in my life would have to be soccer ever since I got a hold of the ball in 10th grade, it sparked my interest and a fire was ignited. It simply stared with a few friends asking me to join them then slowly progressed into everyday after school I would go outside to kick around the ball, I never really knew it was for me until I started getting more into it, soccer became my outlet more like an escape for me, it was somewhere I could go when I needed to be alone just the ball and I. Honestly, I never knew that it would affect me in the way it has, it started out as a just for fun kind of thing, then it escalated into actually playing games, turning more into a passion and I could actually see myself in the
