Chapter one: The Usual —Laura sighed as she wiped the small drips of sweat off her forehead. She had been on her feet since 9 am and it was currently 6:45 pm, her shift was going to end in fifteen minutes. Laura had waited all day for him to arrive and order his usual, but for some odd reason he hadn't shown up yet. She figured he had found another coffee shop where he wouldn't have to see her face. She took a deep breath and held it in for a few seconds. She exhaled and right then she heard the door chimes, signalling that someone had entered the shop. He decided to end it by playing some music. He changed the channels and ended up leaving a song Laura knew all too well. Dusk till dawn She began quietly humming and singing along to the beautiful melody. After every few seconds, he would turn to look at her. He gave no reaction what so ever. He seemed very eager to get back to his house, Laura couldn't understand why. Finally, a few minutes after the song ended, they arrived back at his apartment. It was one of those buildings that were really high and was covered in glass. Every time Laura passed one of those, she couldn't help but dream she had one too. "Wow," she muttered, as she carefully stepped out the car. He grabbed her hand and raced into the building and in front of the elevators. He pressed the button and tapped his foot impatiently, leaving Laura completely confused as to why he was so desperate to get home with her. The elevator had arrived and he pushed her in, she didn't mind it though, because in a way, he was touching her. His apartment was on the eleventh floor and so they waited in silence.
