The Life of Ted Bundy If a person lived in the 1960s and ‘70s, he or she has heard of Ted Bundy. His murders and twisted ways of killing make it difficult for anyone to forget him. He was ruthless, sneaky, and exceedingly smart. Ted Bundy will always be remembered as one of the most notorious serial killers in the United States because of his horrifying acts of murder, his prison escapes, and his psychopathic actions. Ted Bundy was born in a home for unwed mothers in Burlington, Vermont on November 24, 1946. Once he was born, his mother, Eleanor Louise Cowell, wanted to put him up for adoption but her father, Samuel Cowell, wanted to keep him in the family. His mother wanted to get away from her father therefore, they moved to Tacoma, Washington. Eleanor had changed his last name to Nelson that way it did not draw attention to his illegitimacy. Eventually, Ted’s mother met Johnnie Bundy, who was a army hospital cook. They ended up getting married in 1951. Ted did not like Johnnie therefore, he would do malicious things to try and sabotage their relationship. Many people say he killed his first victim at the young age of fourteen. His first known victim was not murdered but attacked. Karen Sparks was a student and dancer at the University of Washington and Ted had broken into her apartment took a metal part from her bed frame and knocked her unconscious right before he he had sexually assaulted her with the same object.
