Personal Narrative: Working At The Pool

Summer is the time students wait for all year. Summer is the time where students sit around and do whatever they want whenever they want because they don’t have to worry about getting up or doing work for school. For me I can’t remember the last summer I had where I just sat around. High school students dread getting a job in the summer because it takes away from their social life, but getting a job is the best decision. During that summer I worked as a lifeguard and office person at the Pascack Valley Swim Club. Working at the pool didn’t seem like fun to me, but I was wrong. This pool is where I have met so many great people and have made so many memories. In 2015 the pool opened up a swim camp. Standing there on the first day looking at my group I thought it was going to be trouble. Once we started activities I saw how excited they were and how much they looked up to me the fear I had was gone. People hear all the time that younger kids always look up to them, but they don’t fully grasp that concept till they see it. At least that is how it was for me. Seeing how the kids wanted to make the craft the same way I did, swim like I could, and basically copy me made me realize. I have alwaysed loved helping out with younger kids and the camp is what made me realize I might want to go into education when I grow
