The Community College Completion Corps event was particularly important to me because I was always told that I would end up married and without a degree. Serving as an officer in Phi Theta Kappa Beta Delta Omicron chapter has also helped me demonstrate my leadership ability.
After years of waiting and preparing we started on the journey to the west. We made our way to Independence, Missouri to go on the Oregon Trail which was laid by traders and trapers. While there I became familiar with George Wilson who was also a working family man. A lot of families left together making the trail busy and causing jams..
Fortunately, I have been able to participate in STEM enrichment programs outside of my community such as NCSU’s Caldwell Fellows SATELLITE Camp, PARI Summer Space Camp Connect, and Appalachian Regional Commission-Oak Ridge Laboratory STEM Academy. These experiences were pivotal in the development of my passion for the preservation of the environment, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in a related field. Recognizing the need for more exposure to STEM within my community, I hope that with the knowledge, skill, and resources I gain from receiving the Goodnight Scholarship and education from NC State University, I can provide my community a gateway into gaining more knowledge about STEM and what it has to offer. I hope that I can use my experience to be a motivator for students throughout my community, supporting them to participate in STEM opportunities through
Being able to connect with the community and with my peers will be a valuable and unforgettable experience. Not only will I be able to learn from the community, but from my fellow peers, medical students, high school students, and other undergraduates as well. Getting to me mentored by people who have done what I want to do will be enriching, it’ll be an experience that ill cherish forever. Creating long lasting friendships with people who have similar interest.
I made the volleyball team and was finally placed on varsity my junior year. That was the year that the team went to playoffs for the first time in thirteen long years. I was involved in National Honors Society, Dual Credit, AVID, and Pre-AP
Other than academics, I have many other interests. After school I spend hours on the court with the Varsity tennis team and inside a studio, I train to become the strongest ballerina I can be. To balance out of stress, I escape myself into designing, volunteering, and experimenting, in the field of environmental
Throughout my four years of high school, I have kept myself occupied by participating in three student organizations that has developed me into a helpful and prestigious individual. My participation in the Alexander High School UIL Academic team taught me the lesson of hard work pays off. I took the opportunity to join my high school's UIL current events and social studies team which allowed me to compete against others based on my knowledge of the topic. By competing, UIL has educated me that in order to succeed, you must be willing to make sacrifices and dedicate your time towards studying in order to earn a medal or a ribbon. Thankfully, I got to place in many invitational events.
I was deepening my knowledge of human anatomy and how diseases are spread to allow us to succeed at state. I also helped kids on the middle school team. I led experiments for them and helped them study so that they too could have a deeper understanding and broaden their knowledge. This focus will only grow stronger while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. I have applied to the Honors Program; the course work and topics in this program will strengthen my desire to learn.
Why? Why was I cursed to live this life of rage and pain? Why did our ancestor cause us to be cursed with generations of life-liquid thirsty pain and rage filled lives? Why does one man’s actions define a generation to follow? We weren’t even given a chance to be different from him.
The next day Anastasia woke up and did not see Elizabeth around. Where did Elizabeth go? Anastasia asks Jason. Victor came to pick up for the week. Elizabeth took all her homework with her.
Hi Journey Group! If you know me at all, you absolutely know that I crave new experiences and love to share them. This year, I have begun new adventures… from beginning a new job, to becoming the first African-American female Publisher in Charlotte, to fulfilling a life-long dream of writing and publishing a book. We all have connected at different points in my life, and by far, this is the most exciting time for me that I’ve had in a very long time.
I was a member in the publicity department and I got to design programs. I have a lot of time after school, even more when I became a crew leader in theatre. Being in theatre taught me a lot about computer software, and made me fall in love with it. Overall, every activity I have done in High School has shaped me into the young woman I am today.
I am a 10th grade high school student, currently studying science at the 11th grade level, I have found that the areas of science and engineering hold the most interest for me. As a student, I am creative and I enjoy learning and discovering new things and I hope an internship with the Saltz Internship Program will give me an experience that will allow me to be creative and help me in determining what I specifically want to do with science in the future. As the child of a mother who immigrated to the United States in hopes for better opportunities, I have always been encouraged to actively participate in school and extracurricular activities that will help me to develop my interests and become a better student and a member of my community
As a dreamer and queer woman of color, pursuing a career in STEM has been quite challenging. But I have never let anything get in the way of reaching my goals and dreams. I have swam against the current in order to be where I am today, where I have dreamt of being. I am currently a second year student at Trinity Washington University majoring in biochemistry and minoring in mathematics. I am a dedicated student and an analytical and skilled critical thinker who is eager to learn.
Whether it involved helping animals or helping feed homeless people. STEM helps people explore the impact that they have on the world. it helped me explore the impact i made on the world. Something that also stimulates my mind is athletics and and dance. These activities keep me going throughout the day because they give me a chance to control my emotions.
