Growing up, my childhood consisted of lots of naps, juice boxes, cartoon shows, coloring, and the world of business. Yes, the world of business. It’s a pretty shocking thing to hear for someone so young to start experiencing. When I was little, I remember spending the majority of my time inside my dad’s local business in Chinatown, New York City. Although it was small and local, everyone in my family were there to help run the business. My brothers would help restock while my grandma would watch the register and my dad would be taking care of customers. As I look back, I am reminded of how much I learned from just keeping my dad company. As my family’s love for business continued to grow, so did our second and third business. We resulted in opening a tutoring center and senior center. My family’s businesses not only influenced me to gain interest in the business world but also influenced my personal, academic and career goals.

My academic goal in high school was to gain as much knowledge about the business world as possible. I accomplished this by taking several business courses that were offered. Baruch College is known to be the best college in the CUNY system for business, and that was the one I knew I wanted to get into. It was unfortunate to get rejected from Baruch, however, I remained positive and settled to study Economics at John Jay. Although, Economics is not my intended major, I did not mind studying that for my time here. As long as it was still along the line of business, I am satisfied. Regardless of what it is, I know what I learn now will somehow be applicable in the future. My academic goal now is to gain a degree in either Business Management or Public Relations and then getting my masters at another
