John Dewey had once said “Education is not preparation for life: Education is life itself. This quote from John explains my belief of how everyone should be able to have an education no matter what their money status, where they live or their criminal history. Around 57 million children around the world do not have any type of school to go to. I believe that education provides us the knowledge to better ourselves, better the world and give us a way to have a successful and fulfilling life.
Education provides for many positive things in our lives. Education is like food for humans, we need it to grow and survive. It helps us to be critical thinkers, and also lets us think abstractly. Also it helps us to be good citizens and lets us participate and be in unison in our communities. My belief about education was formed at the beginning of high school when I had finally realized that I was not giving my full effort into school. In certain places in the world, children don’t have access to education, or schools. They don’t have this benefit to advance their knowledge to improve their life. Can you imagine sitting there all day with nothing to do except just going to work all day and coming home to nothing. Those people are watching the world pass them by. Not only can education help kids, but it can also help criminals. People who are in jail really do need this knowledge the most and need this education. This is because without this education that they may be seeking, once they get out of jail they may just go back to their old ways because it is the only way they can survive.
