As a result of the growing fascination of technology advancements, technology has become a center point in today’s educational sphere. Consequently, laptops, smart phones, and smart boards have become the wave of the future in our ever changing world. This popular technology integration has been a key component in helping create a more active student learning environment. Educational technology integration has provided students and educators better access to a large network of resources that are not available via textbook. Therefore, educators across the nation are readily integrating technology to engage students, expand performance, and enhance the quality of their programs. At the age of twenty-five, married with four children, and a full-time job, I decided to return to school. I was determined to be an exemplar to my children, and set my mind on earning a college degree. I knew the road ahead would be a challenge, but I was determined not to be a statistic. However, only equipped with a GED, I found myself overwhelmed. I struggled with gaining knowledge through traditional lecturing methods. Having been out of school for so long made classroom instruction a struggle for me. I direly needed a one-on-one lifeline; I found that lifeline through technology. Multimedia was my saving grace! I could often be found in the school library searching for more online tutorials, or in the computer lab doing online practice assignments. The collaboration of traditional learning and modern learning was vital in attaining my degree. Educational technology allowed me to step outside the box of traditional learning to access the differentiated content I much needed to be a successful student.
