“How Do You Expect To Change The World?” To ask a teenager how they expect to change the world is asking a teenager to think about something greater than them, bigger than the bubble in which we’ve created to keep ourselves comfortable. When I think about the impact I want to leave on our planet and the influence I want to have in the world, I tremble with ardor. I want to step out of my bubble and impact our world positively by developing a new way of viewing medicine. I plan on increasing the utilization of technology in medicine and increasing the knowledge that students and current practicing physicians have on preventive medicine. My main goal is to impact the world of medicine.

Many osteopathic medical schools educate their students on this matter, but the percentage of current practicing physicians in the United States that actually have knowledge of preventive medicine is a mere 7.3%, according to a study reported by the Association of American Medical Colleges. I expect to change the world by not only increasing the percentage of practicing osteopathic physicians, but by instilling more knowledge of the matter into current practicing allopathic medicine. By pushing for preventive medicine, doctors will be able to find illnesses and health problems before the patient has begun to feel symptoms. Also, by reducing the amount of medicine that is prescribed without the proper tests and screening, the risk of those medications having adverse reactions on the patient greatly
