I love sports, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter if I am playing, coaching, watching, or talking about sports, I just want to constantly be around them. I have found the lessons of life sports can create, like a unique culture of work ethic, and the never-ending process of learning to how to react to winning and losing, can’t be easily replicated. Sports have been a main factor shaping my character and developing my life path. My father helped develop my affinity for sports at a young age, by providing a unique platform for bonding, as he coached many of my various teams. I have played in regional baseball tournaments, high school tennis and soccer teams, competed in golf tournaments and championship football games. I also have an affinity for winter and water sports. I have also coached several kid’s basketball teams, umpired little league games and filmed and scouted basketball and football games. Essentially, I have not concentrated on focusing on a few select sports, I want to learn as much as I can about as many different sports as possible. It didn’t matter how poor or rural the villages that we visited were, all of them had some sort of a soccer pitch, basketball court or playground where we would play and interact with the locals. Sports gave many of these kids a purpose, and something to strive for, no matter how bad their living conditions were. While in Rio, the FIFA World Cup was being hosted in Brazil. I watched the Brazil games in a local cantina near the church where I was staying and I could really feel the impact that watching the games on TV had on the local population. I made some of my best friends, whom I still keep in touch with, either watching games with on TV or playing on a random soccer pitch or basketball court in Argentina, Brazil, and Australia. On many occasions, we couldn’t speak a sentence of the others language, but there was a certain comradery we had from simply playing sports together. After this experience abroad, I knew I wanted to be able to show the world the sports they love and that sports broadcasting could be the vehicle to accomplish
