Inevitably, the future will come, whether tomorrow or next year. My life altering decisions are approaching quickly, but luckily, from the moment I was born I was given the courage and confidence to be a leader in whatever I wanted to pursue. In my future career, my deepest desires and all things in between, my parents led me and my sisters by example to become strong leaders in anything. Their personal careers, life stories and choices help to mold the leader that I will be. My mom, an occupational therapist, sets direct leadership examples for my family. Regularly, my mom works on campus at schools; her case load can become heavy at times, but time management between home and work life is a skill she has mastered. At his work setting, my dad does many little things to set a big leader example. A few examples include the following: taking extra hours, switching shifts with coworkers, as well as taking the responsibility of creating schedules. My dad at work can most easily be understood as not only a hard working anesthetist, but also more or less a secretary for his co workers. Without the guidance of my dad and his constant desire to be a leader, his workplace would not be near the excellence it is currently. Very similarly to my mom, balance is key. Even with extra shifts and switching shifts, he still finds the harmony between work and home. After work, my dad shows me leadership for my education. He assists me with my college classes, like Medical Terminology and soon College Biology. One of my sisters is in the process of becoming a nurse because of the exposure, support and teachings from my parents. My other sister and I are both looking into medical based practices as well. Due to my parents desire to be a part of my interests and their leadership I have gained confidence in my future, short term and long term. While I’m still in High School, I can challenge myself with hard classes and be a leader in those classes to help me taste the real world and get my closer to the career I want to pursue eventually. Without their leadership examples, it would be hard to feel experienced enough to jump into the classes and work so hard at them. In addition to High School, my unfolding college career and eventual occupation are influenced by my parents examples. I’m striving to be a psychology major in college, this goal is becoming closer and more possible day by day. Due to the leading skills I possess, I am working toward credit hours to achieve the goal of a psychology major. I have undeniable confidence that I can become a psychologist because of the examples of leadership my parents
