My parents inspired me to further my education and to have a successful career. Being a first-generation student has inspired me to set goals, and volunteer in the community. I organized a bone marrow registry drive because I wanted to help those who have been affected by cancer. Being a cancer survivor motivated me to make a difference. When I was 16 years old, I went to a doctor appointment that changed my life forever because I was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin's Lymphoma. My doctor advised me to get a bone marrow biopsy and PET scan done. As a result, the cancer had spread to my lungs, neck, spleen, and stomach. Fortunately, the cancer did not spread to my bone marrow; however, not everybody is as lucky. After chemotherapy, 28 radiations, and six surgeries, I was finally cancer-free. Fortunately, I have been cancer-free for almost three years. As a result of the bone marrow registry drive, 31 people volunteered to have their names put on the bone marrow registry. It impacts the community because it encourages people to help those in need. Also in 2016, I was an Honorary Chairman for the Relay for Life event of Osseo, Wisconsin. I helped to plan the event and wrote a speech about my battle with cancer. My speech inspired the community to donate to the American Cancer Society. I inspired cancer patients to continue their battle against cancer and have courage along the way. I also honored those who have died from cancer. During my high school career, I was a Third-Year Member in the National Honor Society. Every year, I participated in the 3rd Grade Problem Solving event that teaches third graders leadership and team building skills. Also during my time in high school, I was the Special Events Coordinator for the Future Business Leaders of America. In 2016, I went to the National Fall Leadership Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I also have participated in the Splash Against Cancer event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. All of these experiences have taught me that it is important to help
