Why do I want to be a Pharmacist? This was never a question that I had to think about for hours and days. When I was very young, I was always eager to help sick people, and to cure them. I remember once I was reading a story about a nurse, which was a school assignment. Somehow, the story resonated with me. I went up to my mom and told her that I wanted to become a nurse when I grew up. My mom was happy, because she realized that I had compassion, even at such a young age. My desire to aim for a career in the health professions grew even stronger, after I dived into the sciences and mathematics. I took them very seriously, and later I became confident about pursuing Pharmacy as my career. I was always eager to know how our body functions and reacts to stimulus. As a science student, Biology and Chemistry have been my favorite subjects. Biology educates me about the organization of our body parts and how they function. I love interacting with people and counseling them. Since childhood I have always dreamt of counseling patients and become someone who is able to help others. I chose Pharmacy specifically because I even wanted to learn more about medicines and how each medicine is categorized under certain criteria. My father always takes a lot of medications as he is diabetic, and I am always eager to know how they help him with his health.
Pharmacy is definitely the right choice as my career, as it requires a lot of counseling and taking care of a patient's need. I chose pharmacy specifically because pharmacists are the most accessible affiliate in the health care community.
