Although treating the patients is the job for doctors, medical scientists happen to provide the backbone through research for better treatments and this entices me to venture in this career. The course involves a collaboration of research and practical work, both of which I revel in.
I find chemistry intriguing particularly the use of cis-platin in medicine. By taking Chemistry I have been able to develop my research, problem solving and analytical skills. It enables me to challenge ideas and use step-by-step reasoning. Chemistry requires teamwork and communication skill which are essential for project managements. From Human Biology I gained verstehen on the human body at a molecular level and I am currently this subject very fascinating

For medical scientists being dedicated is crucial because they help analyse diseases resulting in the developments of new effective drugs and dedication is a skill that I possess. My experience in the NHS allowed me to open my eyes to many concerns I had previously turned my back on. It gave me the liberty to think more thoroughly and enhance my communication skills. At college I undertook a volunteering course called Coppers Award for a whole academic year where I assisted a group of remarkable students with disabilities. From this course I was able to look at the world through their perspective and it has since fuelled my passion in this course for it is essential that we research more in order to provide successful treatments for patients like these students for them to have a good quality of life. My one day work experience at the Camberley Fire Station taught me that for a group to be successful each member must rely on each other and provide support. This is fundamental as biomedical scientists will work together to solve problems. I have provided group support where I acted as a mentor for Year 4 students during a Maths trip to Brooklands Museum. By doing so, I was able to keep my team motivated and diffuse conflicts that rose. I was a college ambassador during an open day for the Sociology and the Chemistry department where I showcased my practical
