I would like to study abroad with AFS-USA because I have always dreamed of traveling and learning, from first-hand knowledge, about different cultures around the world. I have not been able to travel a lot due to financial reasons, but I have always had high hopes of being allowed to travel to places I have wanted to see since I was a student in elementary school. Another reason why I would like to study abroad with AFS-USA is that I have a passion for learning new languages. The ones I find most interesting are the Romance languages which is why I would like to go to France. I have taken three levels of French and will be continuing my fourth level in the spring semester of the 2014-2015 school year. When it comes to what I would like gather from this unique opportunity, it would essentially be the knowledge and experience needed to become fluent in a foreign language, specifically French. Becoming fluent in a language other than my native tongue will give me a variety of opportunities in the future since the need for the translation of foreign languages has been, and will always be, in high demand. I would also enjoy meeting new friends from other countries from this experience, which I feel is an unchallenging goal for me since I can connect well with people who are culturally different than me. However, this will provide me with the tools needed to expand my cultural horizons, along with the option to maintain friendships with those in residing another
