My intended study abroad program is the USAC London, which I chose because of the differences in culture to Oxford, OH and the availability of classes required for core, major, and minor requirements. I want to have a part of my college experience be completely different than what I am used to and what Miami University is and represents. While Miami University has amazing education, the community of Oxford is lacking in diversity, not only culturally but also in the social scene and the experiences available to me around campus. I really like the idea of studying abroad in a city that allows me to interact with people outside of my university and to take advantage of living in a city that has so many opportunities, especially considering that Oxford is a rural college town that doesn’t really have much to do than the limited events on campus and the party scene off campus.

Not only does the USAC London program offer me various social experiences, it’s a perfect program for me to help complete my core, major, and minor classes. The London Metropolitan University offers the ability for me to study my major, Software Engineering, especially since classes are hard to transfer back to my home institution and complete core and minor classes like economics and literature. I believe that this program allows me discover new parts of myself while building on my new found independence and develop my ability to navigate the chaos of the world. Specifically, I think that this study abroad program will build on skills and traits that I have discovered about myself at Miami University like the ability to notice what representation is seen throughout the city and the skill to see things beneath the surface.
