Personal Statement- Stephanie Olivera Growing up I was always the odd one in our family. When my parents started having children, they did not plan us very well. I am 5 years younger than my older brother, 4 years younger than my sister and 8 years older than my younger brother. I was the child that did not have anyone to "play" with, and I grew accustomed to being alone.

Personal Statement I come from a large family with relatives from a little ranch in Chihuahua, Mexico. Many of which have never made it past grade school. Mainly due to their mother, my grandma, she had fallen very ill. Due to her condition and lack of money my aunts and uncles dropped out of school to work and help pay for her medication and medical expenses. The older siblings had to take care of the younger siblings.
My passion for helping and supporting those whose economic and financial standings have hindered their growth in our society, has driven me towards social work. I feel I have exhausted every possible avenue in my current degree field. Pursuing a master’s in Social Work, will give me the diversity that I need, while aiding me in bringing my dreams of working more in depth with clients, by helping assist them with their individual needs and issues to reality. The Social work field also offers versatility which allows me to work in many dimensions, such as clinical, case management, and many other composites which enables me to help every population. My plans for my four years in high school are to keep a G.P.A of 4.0, get involved as much as I can, pass all my state exams, take at least one honor class, get reassigned to just an English class, and get financial aid for my college education. To begin with, in my first year in high school,as a freshmen,I would like to get involve first and get to know how everything works at my new school, so in my next three years I can do more activities without neglecting my education, which will be easier because I’ll be already used to most of the things at Granite Hills. During my freshmen year, I just want to focus on school, dedicating all my time to homework, classwork, extra credit assignments, and tutoring (if needed). I’ll be putting extra
Being a recurrent theme, the lesson I've learned from computer science, "happiness is a program without errors," becomes ever so prevalent in defining my experiences in STEM-related subjects. It's that "Oh!" moment when I figure out how to solve a challenging problem from the Mu Alpha Theta database - that "Finally!" moment when I finish coding a complicated program - that "Aha!"
The business world is an area where innovative ideas meet technological advances to keep up with our fast paced society and this drives my passion to be a part of the business world. Being relevant to many aspects of day to day life, the business sector offers a variety of choices and careers which will allow me to follow a pathway that appeals to my interest in accountancy and finance. Growing up in a society full of uncertainty and changes in the economy I have always had a strong desire to be a part of this field. I believe it is important for an individual to be fully educated in this area, as it enables them to make a meaningful contribution to the business world. Work experience with KPMG over the summer has strengthened my desire
Vision without action is unproductive dreaming. Action without vision is a waste of time. Yet, vision with action can change the world. This one concept is one of the keys to my past successes, and helps to explain my dreams and why I seek a master degree in Business Administration from Chapman University. My vision has always been to gain both the theoretical and practice knowledge I need to be a successful person.
When ball is life everyone wins: Homerun! Touchdown! 3 point shot! Goal! Yes I have celebrated and scored in all these different ways as the athlete that I am.
My idea of the good life involves using the knowledge and wisdom I acquire to improve the well-being of our planet and all sentient creatures living on it. My undergraduate experience at the University of Florida would prepare me to achieve this by making me a well-rounded individual, providing me the means to achieve my goals, and helping me to communicate my ideas. While many see education as a means to an end, I value education most for its ability to shape me. I hope to use my experience at UF to deepen my perception and understanding of the world to improve my decision-making by learning from the mistakes of the past, and to enhance my opinions by learning about the views of others, especially when they contradict my own. Not only will my education at UF help me gain knowledge, but it will also train me in various ways of thinking, allowing me to better analyze life situations and make better decisions.
The more I don’t know, the more I know. The more I realize I don’t understand, the more I discover my desire to know more about psychology. My interest in educational psychology was triggered by my first experience in changing schools.

My character strengths are shown through the construction of my LinkedIn profile. One of my strengths is my kind, compassionate and self-less characteristic, which is portrayed in the volunteer section in my profile. The type of activities where I have been self-less is when I gave up my time to sell roses to raise money for people living with Cystic Fibrosis. In addition to this point, the way I have constructed my profile demonstrates how my volunteer and work experience shows how I value people and I am self-motivated to complete any part of my job. My job allows me to help clients see a psychiatrist promptly.
