Many individuals have various skills and talents which they use in their field to help others. For myself, I have always had a passion for the biological sciences. I have been diligent in my pursuit of medicine because It provides me an opportunity to live a fulfilling life dedicated to helping others. From a young age my admiration for medicine stemmed from my parents who are both physicians. Curiosity of my parents profession led me into further studies and exploration. Through an array of experiences, My appreciation for the study of medicine has led me to acquire various qualities through an array of experiences. The concept of extending my knowledge and practice to helping people of all different backgrounds truly appeals to me . Volunteering in chatters allows me to help people of mental abilities; while also developing a realistic perspective of the difficulties and rewards of such a task. In the program CHATTER, I work with children who have various mental disabilities ranging from anxiety disorders to down syndrome. Not only does it improve their mental abilities to help them function in society; but it also shows them that people outside their households care for them despite their impediments. In order to develop appropriate methods of communication and interaction with these children, I have researched and gained a better understanding of their mental disabilities.
