There are many reasons why I am interested in volunteering in an acute care setting. The first and main reason I would like to volunteer at George Washington University Hospital is because I am very passionate about helping others and making a difference in someone’s life, even if it’s in a small way. Having been in the hospital before, I know first-hand that being in the hospital isn’t the most enjoyable for the patient or family. If offering time out of my schedule helps alleviate what they might be going through and puts a smile on their face, I know I’ve helped make a difference. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you’ve helped make a change, even if that change is simply putting a smile on someone’s face. From this passion I believe that I have found my purpose, which is so much bigger than just myself. I am very dedicated, compassionate, and always looking at the positives side of things.
