I was born and raised in Miami, Florida by Haitian Parents, with strong conservative family values. These values have shaped me into the man I am today. Growing up, my parents and sister were my best friends. In fact, the competition between my sister and I motivated me to study hard, and the love received from my parents gave me the confidence necessary to attain personal development at its finest. Unfortunately, I have witnessed first-hand the destruction that disease can implement on a unified family. Therefore, my number one priority is to become a doctor. So that I may minimize the risk that disease can have, in disrupting the families of others; because family is the pinnacle of a fulfilled childhood. Being a Peer-Led-Team-Learning leader for FIU's Bio Department was meaningful in strengthening my leadership skills to conduct weekly sessions to teach Biology students. It was rewarding seeing my student's grades improve after I incorporated visual learning into my classes. I also became a learning assistant for Chemistry because I am an individual who holds great respect for those who have taken the time to teach me. Hence, this position allowed me to improve my commitment to giving back to my mentor. I would exhibit teamwork with my professor and co-workers as we used trial-and-error to generate a student-centered curriculum. Placing the lessons acquired from my public speaking course into practice, I developed the ability to convey a coherent message to a broad audience. This was attained when I was frequently given the opportunity to teach a chemistry class of 200 surplus students. I plan to continue to utilize this invaluable tool in my medical career.
Over time, my service extended outward to address the absence of enthusiasm for education, which plagues Miami's impoverished communities.
