From the moment I was able to understand that one day I’ll be on my own, based on my individual choices and merit, my parents have always stressed the importance of having a good education. Excelling in school means entry into a good job, and with that comes a risk free, happy lifestyle. This idea has been embedded into my brain day by day, and not because of pride or self satisfaction, but because my parents want me to live a better life than we do now, and not have to work in a laborious job like my father does. This has always inspired me to be outstanding in school, and strive for goals someone mundane would not think of. I want a lavish lifestyle that is earned by the successes I achieve. Aside from having to complete a high school education, you must complete a bachelor’s degree and four years of medical school, then go through a five year surgical residency program. The best way to start off is by applying and enrolling into a university with a good pre-medical program, and completing your undergraduate studies. Earning a degree in classes such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics will aid your way to becoming a surgeon, since those classes are all related to medicine, it is best to excel in these fields. Personally, being a 4.0 student leads me to believe that it is something that I can obtain if I truly put my mind to it, and dedicate my life to the practice. It is the type of job that not only requires the intellectualness but the dedication, because of the time it takes to become a true surgeon. With all the good that comes from something there must be an opposite end, and that comes with the natural stress of the job. After completing training, Surgeons work about 50-60 hour weeks, clocking in a little more than the average job. The core purpose values depend on the specifications of the field of the surgeon. However, the cohesiveness that comes with medicine, is that the goal is to aid those who cannot help themselves. For general surgeons, it is important that they are ready on call and are alert at all times, the working environment is very strict because it is a serious matter. The stress levels of the job can be very high at times. As a surgeon, your record is of crucial importance to your success, and making sure you help the patient leave in a better condition than when arrived is key to a phenomenal career.
