The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) is most worthy of donations because they play a huge role in the health of our athletes that we love watching day in and day out. They not only conduct research on specifically sports related injuries but also look for solutions for other non related medical issues such as diseases too. Their mission statement is: “AMSSM provides a forum to foster professional relationships among sports medicine physicians to advance the discipline of sports medicine through education, research, advocacy, and excellence in patient care”. I chose this organization because it is a field I’ve thought about pursuing myself and feel like it’s something very worth getting into however like most other professions requires a lot of hard work, and dedication. During their undergraduate years, students will need to take pre-med classes in biology, anatomy and chemistry. Residency programs begin the in-depth primary specialty training and last around 3 years. During this time, a resident can begin to focus on surgical or non-surgical areas. After completing a residency, a physician can apply for a sports medicine fellowship program, which is typically one to two years in length. Undergraduate and medical school programs typically take another 4 years each leading up to about 12-13 years in training.
