With the formation of our new nonprofit organization, Moving Athletes Forward, it has come to the attention of this Advisory Committee, The Committee on Board Performance, that many of the board members may lack knowledge or experience that will benefit them while sitting on a nonprofit’s board of directors. Therefore this memo has been produced to help the new board start off in the best way possible. Mission To start I wanted to reiterate the mission of the organization: The mission of Moving Athletes Forward is to support injured high school and college athletes from the Greater Chicago Area that have lost their college scholarships due to a sports related injury. The organization will provide counseling to heal the athlete mentally, rehabilitation to heal the athlete physically, and lastly provide scholastic tutoring and access to scholarship funds to help the athlete move past their athletic careers and on to higher education opportunities. We, the Board of Directors, will actively pursue this goal to ensure that all student athletes in the Greater Chicago Area have the chance to attend and graduate from college when their scholarships are lost due to injury. …show more content…

With this responsibility we must adhere strictly to our organization’s mission and do everything in our power to help these athletes move past their athletic careers and onto their higher education.
