The primary reason I volunteer for the Red Cross is my immense appreciation for helping people. Aiding people (from simply writing a “Happy Birthday” card for a fellow volunteer, to helping a blood donor with directions,) has always imbued me with gratification, a fulfillment I seldom receive in everyday life. It warms my heart to see a stranger smile, and say “thank you”, leaving me with a feeling of elation. Although the care and effort of entering data and pictures in cards isn’t directly acknowledged by the receiver, the thought of brightening someone’s day or making someone’s life easier is extremely gratifying. Through Youth Council, I will be able to be more connected to my fellow volunteers, not only working with them, but truly interacting with one another, collaborating, and creating new interpersonal relationships. This opportunity will allow me to be fully involved with a council that I truly look up to, for their great endeavors and pursuits to create an organization that offers s aid to millions of people around the world, provides opportunities (such as for high school students like myself), and puts a smile on peoples’ faces everyday. To be a part of Youth Council would imbue with me with gratification and respect, one that cannot be attained by simply volunteering. I believe I am the best candidate for this position because of my familiarity and appreciation for the Armed Forces. As a two-year cadet at my school’s AFJROTC (Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps), and having family involved in the Navy, I have developed a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the Armed Forces. Thus, this is my motivation to accomplish the responsibilities of the SAF Committee Chair, and allowing me to further my admiration and appreciation. With my experience from working at the Sharp Memorial Hospital, I have little difficulty reaching out to others, and providing
