Volunteering at Edwards Hospital would offer me a valuable and unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being of the community I live in, as I would also gain invaluable experience and personal growth toward my dream in the medical field. When I truly think about why I want to volunteer at Edwards Hospital, numerous blocking reasons come to mind. First, the moral imagination of service has been found in me from an early age and has always propelled my interest in volunteering. I already have experience volunteering in places around the Naperville area, such as “Feed My Starving Children,” a cause toward helping those who can’t support themselves, and enriching children at the “Naperville Public Libraries.” As someone aspiring to pursue a healthcare career, I realize the struggle as well as the significance of gaining firsthand experience within a medical setting. Getting accepted into this opportunity would enable me to immerse myself in numerous aspects of healthcare, from how patient care is administered to the augmented reality of clinical depth. On the other hand, being able to interact with different patients and healthcare professionals would enhance my communication skills and the diversity of problems people may have. This opportunity allows me to become involved in my community in a simple and meaningful way. Health care remains problematic in many communities, with uneven impacts on vulnerable populations.
