The term achievement refers to a desire to perform well, to accomplish something especially by superior ability, effort, and great courage to obtain a goal. At the beginning of this semester all my classmates, their goal was to pass this class, but not all of them are going to achieve, some of them are going to drop the class or fail. Some people achieve more than others. The reason for the contrast in the achievement of the person is different personalities, socio cultural context, and how highly motivated spur on to do better. During life span, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and late adulthood, we find difficult events in life that prevent us to achieve our goals. I remember my first class was speech I was sitting in the classroom listening to the teacher, and learning something new, I felt a grant sense of satisfaction. My prerecord for nursing program included, chemistry, microbiology, trigonometry, English and anatomy and physiology. When my professor of anatomy and physiology were talking about of the human body I barely understood because I did not know the vocabulary and terms of the human body in English. The class was immensely difficult for me, but I still manage to pass the class. As a student, I work hard, I enjoy learning and I want to earn good grades. ‘An overwhelming conclusion of motivation research is that teachers should encourage student to become intrinsically leaning environment that promotes students cognitive engagement and self-responsibility for learning. That said, the real world includes both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and too often intrinsic and extrinsic motivation have been pitted against each other as polar opposites”( Santrock 543). Later I finished my prerecord classes with the GPA 3.9, I did my pre-entrance test, Hesi test, for the nursing program for Tarrant Community College, and I pass the test, but I did not get accepted because they said out of four hundred applicants they take only hundred with the best scores. After all the hard work, I did not accomplish my goal, I was almost forty years old and I didn’t have many options. I realized that I had to continue with my journey.
