I have always dreamt of traveling the world, ever since I was young I had a longing to go to lands far away from where I lived. These dreams did not become a reality until I had enrolled in high school. My first year I was given the opportunity to travel to Italy and two years later I was able to travel to Spain. It would be during these trips that I would realize that I wanted to work in the tourism industry. When I searched for majors I realized the major that would best fit me, Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. I would love to use this major to help open the world to others and help people live their dreams.
My second trip to Europe was when I had decided that I wanted to work in the tourism industry. Before the trip I had never even considered the importance of a tour guide, I had always believed that a trip would be the same no matter who was leading the group. My ideas were changed once I met the woman who would be leading me around Spain, Laura. Laura was an important figure in the decision of my college major, I was truly inspired by her personality and her ability to connect with the group. I hope that going into the Exciting industry that surrounds tourism will help me feel that passion that many seek to have at their workplace. I have never had any interest in a nine-to-five office job, as I prefer to be up and active throughout my workday. Once I have received my degree I want to work for a tour company. I wish to use my knowledge out in the field as a tour director who plans and leads trips. I can use the education that I receive to plan vacations for groups of people who wish to see the world.
