I cannot believe that I almost gave up on my dreams of pursuing my MBA. However, fifteen years later here I am, well into completing my LDP and GAP analysis over a period of eight months. As I reflect on my initial lack of knowledge of what was an LDP and Gap were, and the purpose of them, I failed to acknowledge how important these tools are to achieving my career goals.
Based on this GAP analysis, I am sufficient in providing personal leadership, goal-setting, and implementation. Additionally, proficient in self-awareness and self-management. The results in these parts of the GAP is unsurprising to me because I believe that my previous classes allowed me to identify my strengths and weaknesses and to improve in these areas. I am also interested in analyzing the implications of contract law and making recommendations to support business decisions (GAP 10). I have been very cautious of unethical business practices when it comes to my newly established event planning small business. However, I believe that if I have learned about how to prevent unethical business practices and accurately analyze contract law, I can reduce the consequences that come with them.
These two GAPs are extremely important in developing my event planning company into a sustainable business for my family because there are laws and statutes in place that I am not aware of that may negatively impact growth and sustainability of a small business. I have learned so much in this class that I have set up a meeting with my business partner to discuss changing the organizational structure of our business. I also plan to discuss our previous plan of hiring new employees next year. We have been using volunteers and independent contracts to assist with our events and may continue doing so after I have learned that in some cases our company may be civilly liable for the actions of our employees. I completely understand why some businesses are extremely precautious before making difficult decisions especially when the company is attempting to expand globally. The decisions that a business make can drive the company to success or be its demise if various departments like the Human Resources Department, Risk Management Department, and a legal counseling firm is not adequately
