I am applying to study Psychology because I enjoy studying explanations of human behaviour such as from social perspectives like Bandura's social learning theory, or from neurons and DNA with concepts such as concordance rates. Since I've studied Psychology I've noticed it a lot in everyday life such as in the health care system when it comes to treatments and rehabilitation for depression and OCD, this makes it interesting for me because I am studying relevant issues that are happening now. Psychology interests me because there is so many different branches of it that you can explore in depth such as Social Psychology, Consumer Psychology or Criminal Psychology, this is interesting because they all have different explanations of why humans behave in the way they do which give lots of different viewpoints on individuals' actions and ways that abnormal behaviour could be improved. Also, the experimental part of Psychology interests me because I enjoy the analytical aspect of looking at if an experiment will be unethical or not, and whether it was a suitable way of proving a hypothesis. I am suitable for this course because I can look at theories, explanations and experiments in depth and use analytical and evaluative skills to determine whether I believe they have high validity or confounding variables for example. I am extremely excited about studying Psychology because it will give me the chance to demonstrate my skills in the subject area such as being able to describe, analyse and assess certain experiments, theories, and my own work. Studying Psychology will also give me the chance to learn new skills such as debating and presentation skills.
