For my career, I aspire to be someone in the english field, such as an editor or working for a publishing company. To do this, I would need the proper education and possibly an internship at a company for my college years. For my education, I would be going to Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. I would be getting a Bachelor’s degree in English, which includes courses such as journalism, writing, and editing. The in-state tuition is about $22,298, which includes the mandatory fees, orientation, enrollment, rooms, and the meal plans. Over the course of four years, that would come out to be around $89,192. With a paid internship at Taylor and Francis Group and a potential other part time job as a waitress, I can put about $100-$175 towards the cost of college. I would most likely have to take out loans, but I would pay the off over time with the money I earn from the jobs I have. Comparing my original job choice to the national labor outlook, there are similarities. The median salary of an assistant is $36,500 per year. Though the salary is efficient, the growth is quite slow at 3%. I am giving my employers my work, such as everything I do. Currently, I am/would be there to make my boss’s job easier, as well as to keep the office organized, be able to present orally and have creative writing skills, as well as completing smaller tasks for the boss, such as phone calls and replying to emails like it says in the job description. In the world market, my job is actually quite competitive. Between other editors and such, it is a very easy job to loose or to frequently mess up, so it is important to always be on task or you could easily be replaced. The salary is also competitive.
