Mahwah Robo T-Birds Officer Application Essay

Due to my strengths and commitment to the team, I am best suited to be a Robo T-Birds officer for the 2023-2024 school year. I am responsible and will be able to handle all of the duties that come with holding an officer position, including attending all of the lunch meetings, generating ideas for my sub-team during build season, and coordinating with other officers. Most importantly, I have leadership experience and am experienced in instructing others to complete tasks. I am creative and can think on the spot if something does not work and must be fixed as well. In contrast, I can also plan well beforehand, seeing other examples for chassis, bumpers, and field elements and envisioning how our team could incorporate those ideas along with our own, creating schedules of what work must be done every day/week of

First, I might have to get used to the nature of handling the sub-team since people are often off doing their own assignments with the officer in charge having to look over and check on everyone even if they may be in different locations. I would address this by familiarizing myself with this throughout the pre-season, checking and looking over many people and assisting them/making suggestions as I do. I may also have more extracurricular conflicts than other officers or potential officers, and I would address this by trying to prioritize robotics over these conflicts at all times and also making sure all of the work is accounted for even if I am not present. Moreover, I may have some gaps in my mechanical knowledge which could affect my performance in leading the sub-team in making field elements. In order to improve in this area of weakness, I will plan ahead on how to create the field elements when the game is revealed and will learn any of the knowledge I am currently
